Gurbeen Bhasin is the founder and executive director of Aangen. A trained social worker, Gurbeen established Aangen in 2000, following in the footsteps of her ancestors who always welcomed and supported community members facing challenges. Her primary purpose with Aangen is to foster personal empowerment and nurture communities by responding to community needs. Her professional journey has included serving as project manager of a global human rights initiative; a senior analyst at the Canadian Mental Health Association; and as an entrepreneur and creator in Toronto’s independent arts sector. Gurbeen holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in international relations from the University of Windsor, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from York University. 

She is best known for her mile-wide smile, her funky shoes and her mom’s timeless life wisdom.

Arran has taken over as Aangen’s new ADU Manager, a position that requires empathy, food manufacturing knowledge and management—all of which Arran has and more. He joined Aangen after working 15 years in medical manufacturing and development, so helping vulnerable populations has always been a huge passion of his. In that respect, helping to grow ADU to reach more people and combat food insecurity is a perfect fit for him. 

Arran is a passionate farmer and grows a big organic garden each year. He’s got lots of hobbies, including: leatherworking, knife-making, fishing, and swimming. But, most of all, Arran loves helping others through his work. 

An accomplished Senior Manager with a proven track record in the food distribution, manufacturing, and hotel industries. Renowned for expertise in cost control, inventory management, and warehouse operations, Ramouy has consistently driven efficiency and operational excellence. With extensive experience in supply chain management and project leadership, he specializes in streamlining processes and delivering impactful results. His career reflects a commitment to optimizing resources and fostering sustainable growth in dynamic environments.

Tricia-Gaye Foster-Mitchell serves as Human Resources Officer. Her job encompasses a wide range of responsibilities which include recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development of staff, as well as fostering a positive work environment.

Prior to joining Aangen, Tricia-Gaye worked as Head of the Humanities Department and Teacher of History & Social Studies at a high school in Kingston, Jamaica. For thirteen years she led a team of nine persons as she recruited staff, conducted assessments, planned training of staff and organized various nationally recognized events. She has a proven track record of maintaining a healthy work environment, building employee relations as well as training and development.

She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science and a Diploma in Education from the University of the West Indies. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Mohaj Salaheldin, is a dedicated humanitarian with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and ongoing pursuit of a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW). With extensive experience of a decade as a social worker and a counsellor, Mohaj believes fervently in the power of love and cooperation to uplift those affected by adversity with unwavering determination, Mohaj serves as an inspiring source of strength for the vulnerable, striving to provide support and empowerment to help them transcend their circumstances. Passionate about driving meaningful change, Mohaj constantly seeks innovative solutions to make a positive impact.

Outside of work, Mohaj finds joy in dancing and cooking, using these activities for self-expression and connecting with others.

Cindy is a calm and caring person who enjoys cooking, baking, and learning about finances. She's
a proud parent to her son Aahil, who loves joining her at work. Cindy's job involves supporting
kitchen operations, coordinating orders, and managing inventory, which she's been doing for
over five years.

Mohamed’s experience  is rooted in customer service, problem-solving, and delivering excellent client experience. He has a background in CPA studies hence, brings critical thinking and attention to detail to every role. He also has strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to lead teams effectively. 

Tjaripara (T.K.) completed two years of community  work program at George Brown College. For the past three years, he has spent much of his time working with persons who are homeless and have mental health  challenges. He has a passion for helping people. In his free time, T.K enjoys reading, watching soccer and going for long walks with his dog. 

Cameron is a versatile professional with a unique fusion of culinary artistry and technical expertise. Renowned for his mastery in scratch cooking and quality control, he creates exceptional dining experiences while prioritizing user efficiency.

His strong background in web design enhances his ability to streamline processes, ensuring a seamless experience in any kitchen environment.

On the technical side, Cameron excels in computer hardware and software, with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Adobe.

His programming skills in Node, Python, and JavaScript further enhance his web design capabilities, allowing him to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces. Outside of work, he enjoys restoring guitars and collecting cards, showcasing his diverse interests and attention to detail.
